Praying Nation
Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,
Our President signed a proclamation for National Day of Prayer . An excerpt is:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 6, 2010, as a National Day of Prayer. I call upon the citizens of our Nation to pray, or otherwise give thanks, in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, for our many freedoms and blessings, and I invite all people of faith to join me in asking for God’s continued guidance, grace, and protection as we meet the challenges before us.
We know we have been called to pray and to pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17 (King James Version) Pray without ceasing.) This national proclamation challenges us to unite with others in faith and pray a collective prayer. First, we must thank the Lord for our many blessings as we ask for grace and guidance. What are we praying for? We can use this prayer time as an opportunity to have a national transformation.
Top on my list is the Divine Health of the nation and particularly African Americans who are increasingly in various states of dis-ease. What is on your prayer list?
